Jades from the Tomb of the King of Nanyue

This is a bilingual scholarly monograph and exhibition catalog that documents one of China’s most significant archaeological finds: the intact tomb of King Zhao Mo, the second ruler of the Nanyue Kingdom. It focuses on the recovery of over 220 jade artifacts from the Western Han Dynasty (roughly 137–122 BCE). These items were found in the King’s tomb in Guangzhou, which remained sealed for over 2,000 years until its discovery in 1983. The collection is considered a pinnacle of Han Dynasty jade craftsmanship and offers rare evidence of the burial customs and wealth of the period.
