Bringing together approximately fifty objects from The Met Collection, with more than half on display for the first time, this rotating exhibition showcases treasured Korean traditions. By presenting each object in ways that reveal a fuller picture of its unique form, it offers insight into the construction and function of works in metal, wood, ceramic, textiles and lacquer. Amongst the featured objects are a Buddhist sculpture that once held offerings inside, a porcelain jar of striking openwork concealing an inner chamber, a bronze mirror bearing a delicately incised image and a king’s lacquer letter box whose linings feature impressive calligraphy.
